Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for Congress. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She covered many notable issues, such as the arms control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
